About

In 2013, while Jeremy Wall was studying fashion development and product management, he came within inches of being killed by a car while riding his bike. While at the college, he was already creating a line of outdoor gear, but this experience redirected him to building smart-clothing that would keep him safer when cycling. He integrated LED lights and flexible speakers into athletic wear, which was his senior thesis and THREADS project. This project evolved as Wall turned this into a company, Lumenus. After a few years of exploring wearable technologies Lumenus pivoted to creating the Lumenus ioLIGHT, “the world’s smartest bike light.” The ioLIGHT was an IoT smart light that changes color and animation in coordination with GPS signals and other data. The ioLiGHT has a modular attachment system that can be put onto clothing, accessories, helmets, bikes and more. In the time growing Lumenus, the company was recognized at TechCruch Disrupt’s Startup Battlefield and won Miller Lite’s Tap the Future competition, among other startup and product competitions. Lumenus had an opportunity to create a technology for the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Coast Guard for search and rescue. After seven years in business, Lumenus was sold to strategic partners in 2021.
